Present-day consumers have several payment options, such as credit and debit cards, near field communication devices, online checkout and, of course, cash. However, many shopping experts say some forms of payments are more secure than others.
According to a MSN Money report, consumers should use credit cards whenever possible, as they are generally the most secure payment option. While cash can easily be lost and is nearly impossible to recover or track, the report said credit cards are protected under federal law.
Meanwhile, card companies usually offer payment protection and security resources that cash can't provide, enabling consumers to quickly recover funds in the event of identity theft or a retailer error.
The report said credit cards are also favorable for online shoppers, who can ensure their payment is secure when purchasing products through online businesses' safe, encrypted card processing solutions.
